Like that episode of Seinfeld, you have frequently spotted how when you go to an airfield to catch a flight, the treatment you get as a coach passenger is satisfactory the bulk of the time, but the civilities are slowly eroding.
When you call the airline as a coach passenger, you get an automated voicemail maze ; the 1st class folk get a real person to chat to right away ; they get a soft-lit wonderful waiting lounge at the airfield with free drinks and peanuts ; you are fortunate if you get a metal chair, sticky with someone else’s popcorn, and fluorescent lighting shining in your face. If you spotted recently, at any hospital run by a skin expert, skin care patients customarily get coach treatment ; the epidermal consultants act like the shoppers who wait for their appointments over at the sumptuous annexe are the real patients. If you’ve not guessed who those lucky “real patients” are, who get the kid-glove treatment, they are people who come in for cosmetic dermatology – not for the suppurating psoriasis and acne like the remainder of us. The doctors are pretty matter-of-fact about the entire deal.
Legitimate skincare issues receive payment for by medical care insurance – a fixed sum that cuts the dermatologist’s margin down as far as itwill go.
Skin expert skin care for cosmetic purposes, Botox, skin plumping and the like receive payment for at the market rate – they make a lot more cash on this. And naturally, everybody pays more attention to the cash generator. The cheap treatment that real skin care patients get, goes all the way. They find it harder to get an appointment towards skin care, there may or won’t be a correct receptionist for pre-treatment support, they never get to spend as much time with the doctor, and it becomes very unlikely to re-schedule an appointment. Heavy patients who call with many likely troubling issues, like a unhelpful and blackened patch on the skin that might come from a sexually spread illness or cancer, still have to wait in line behind someone that comes in, say, for dandruff ; all while, they watch the narcissism patients grandly welcomed to the other section.
The dermatological doctor skin care office treats the major patient as 2nd class, and they do not even care if you know it.
